GSM measures the mass of one square metre of fabric. Higher GSM means more yarn packed into the same area, so more density, more weight, and usually more durability. It does not measure quality on its own, but for hoodies it is the fastest signal of whether a piece will feel substantial or thin.

French Terry breathes better than fleece because of its looped interior, so a 390GSM French Terry hoodie stays comfortable across most of the year. In peak summer heat it is warmer than a light hoodie, as expected.
Does higher GSM always mean better quality?
No. GSM measures weight, not construction. A heavy hoodie with poor stitching still fails. Weight plus clean construction is what lasts.
